Take Your Break From Life With A StayCation That Works

Making the most of a break at home to recharge and reset.

What are your options if you want to go on a vacation but can’t afford to? Is there anything you can do instead? Staying home might be the only option. What other alternatives do you have? If you want to unwind, you can always stay home.

To have a good staycation, you must disconnect from your normal life and duties for a day. Set aside a day off from work, turn off your phone, avoid answering emails, and let the housework and responsibilities of life sit for a day. You may also be able to make this a weekly habit if you can keep up with the responsibilities during the work week. Just one day of focused relaxation and refreshment to get recharged for the week to come.

Here’s a list of great ideas to fill your Staycation day. Pick what works for you.

  • Find a space that gives you peace and relax there.

  • Take the opportunity to lounge around all day in your pjs.

  • A good read at home might just help you unwind, pick up that book you have always been meaning to read, and get lost in the words.

  • Reconnect with your surroundings. Appreciate all the little things that make your life wonderful, they can add up to giving you a change of state for the better.

  • Spend some time alone doing absolutely nothing to let the body and mind heal and recharge.

  • Go for a healthy cleanse with plenty of hydration and good foods. Or why not do a day fast and break it with a lovely deserved evening meal.

  • Treat yourself to something different or special, a spa day, massage, beauty treatments.

  • Matinee cinema for some retro memories with popcorn.

  • Play your favourite vibes and get lost in the music.

  • Get out and about. Walk, hike, jog, cycle, and enjoy your local outdoors.

  • Try having a special dinner, new meal or delivered. Have it somewhere special, on a sunny lawn or tucked up in bed.

  • Change the ambience for the better. Dim the lights, add candles and music to suit the mood.

  • Get some paper and start sketching to realise the inner artist.

  • Catch up with an old friend and relax reminiscing your previous adventures.

There are clearly lots of ways to spend some quality time at home. Get creative and give yourself a well-deserved recharge, to help face what the rest of the week brings. Do this as often as needed to help you reset and readjust.
